I have a DVX and a DVC30 with the optional XLR adapter, the only problem is that when I am monitoring sound I get a constant high pitched hiss and I am wondering if it the cam or just the headphone jack that is faulty. Does anyone know about this or how to fix it or if it is really a problem. My DVX sounds great but my dvc seems crappy in sound comparison.

I checked it on the computer and it is clean as a whistle. Sounds clean and crisp, boy was I worried. I guess the headphones are for checking sound levels only, what a bummer.
 
yeah, but how can you check sound levels if you can't compare them with your noise floor?

I think it's a shame for Panasonic to sell a cam with such cheap features, and I would think they would not make the same mistake with the DVC30. I was wrong.
