I have just started to shoot weddings this year and have invested on a dvx100B camera. I have no complaints on this camera and works greate for what I need.

However, I need to get a second camera. I am short on budget and cannot afford another dvx100B. I am looking into a DVC30. Although it would not have a 24p mode, it will just have the cinemode effects.

My wedding content is 20% 30p and 80% 60i. Has anyone done this before ( i mean getting a dvc30 as a second camera.)

How about the looks of the footage. WIll it be close enough to the DVX100B ?

Help please.

As far as I can tell, people just want to have clean video without any green lens flares. As long as the colors aren't total crap and the camera work is steady, they could care less about the framerate or the gamma curve, which you can fake in post anyway.

Save yourself another $1,500 and get something like a TRV900 or a GL2 as a B-cam. Both are still pro cams, and you can match the look in post, as least enough to please your clients. You don't wanna get a cheap handycam, obviously, but you don't need to go nuts, either.

I use the dvc30 for a 2nd wedding cam and it works great. It's frame mode is not great but it has a lot of nice features. One is it's size. You can take it anywhere. Fingers r getting tired typing this on my phone

You should also look at trying to find a used DVC80. It's basically a DVX without the 24p, same body and everything. I guess people really liked it.
