what's the best way to quick mount from the dv rig to the 503 tripd head?

will the manfrotto 357 ( the plate that fits on the rig)will or will not fit on a 503 head?

I'm a little confused here.

" It is recommended to permanently attach the extra base to  
your camera plate."  from a previous post


....are you attaching it to the tripod head?

yeah.. I bought the extra qr bottom ($30) for the 503 and attatched it to the dvrig.. so I could go from the dvrig to the tripod withough needing to unscrew plates.

can you explain what the DV rig rep was talking about...i followed what you did...basically bought a new base for the dv rig...so the cam plate would slide onto both.....what would i need if i kept the qr base on the dv rig but have a 503 head on my tripod?
