Danny at DVTEC was cool enough to involve the forum in naming this thing and even give some away in a contest! Cool company.

This is the ideal stabilizer for my needs anyway. As someone who does primarily doc-work, this is the perfect tool. That's not to say it won't be used in narrative work, too, I'm sure it will get just as much use there. Here's why I can't wait to get one of these:

1. VERSATILITY - can be used dozens of ways. Two hand "fig rig" style, shoulder mounted (with 2 or 3 grips), with shock-absorber for more stability, as a low-shot hand-held stabililizer, as a hi-hat, AND that's just what the pictures on their site show - I'm sure more uses will be "invented" by users. Also, this thing looks customizable in each of those positions for different body types/shooting styles.

2. COMPACT/PORTABLE - can you leave a fig rig attached to your camera and store it in your bag? Nope - and this thing does so much more than a fig rig. Perfect for travel situations and especially convenient for run and gun. Also seems way less obtrusive than other systems if you're trying not to draw too much attention to yourself. It sounds like it will weigh less than a couple of pounds, too.

3. AFFORDABLE - ok, I "won" one (by whining...) but I may have to buy the accessories (not sure yet). Since I'd been hoping to buy a DvRig Pro before this came out, I can honestly say I would have eventually bought one anyway. Danny says the base unit will cost less than a Fig Rig and "fully loaded" with shoulder support, shock absorber, etc., will cost less than DV Rig Pro. That's awesome! I've noticed that the DV Rig Pro is probably the most recommended stabilizer/support system at it's price point and this is even cheaper (with more versatility)! The DV Rig Pro won't go away, of course, especially for dedicated ENG crews and long term shoots. But for sheer versatility and bang for the buck, the MultiRig can't be beat.

4. LOOKS COOL! This thing is so smart and scrappy looking! Cool industrial design.

So, what do you guys think? Who else will be a MultiRig user?
