OK it is obvious I didnt uderstand something here... So I need your help... Shooting 25p is great (the Pal version that I am intresting in) but I uderstand that DV format is interlaced and not progressive. I havent uderstand how we suppose to get the progressive image for editing with premier from an interlaced source. Please explain in simple English cause this is not my language.

Also is there a PAL version around for the new 100b model, and if so where I can find a brochure.

Thanks in advance

So when you import a clip into Premiere with firewire Premiere does the convertion for you and you end up editing the actual 25p ?

I think we're confusing 24p and 25p here.

The PAL DVX (DVX100E) shoots 25p and 50i.

PAL tapes can only hold 50i footage.

50i (interlaced) just means that instead of 25 full frames each second, you have 50 "fields" each second. For normal interlaced shooting, each of those 50 fields is recorded one after the other (1/50 of a second apart).

But when you're shooting 25p, they get recorded in pairs. A pair of fields is recorded every 1/25 of a second.

A frame is always made up of two fields. With interlacing, the two fields that make up the frame are recorded at different times. With 25p, they're recorded at the same time.

There is no conversion process in Premiere, you're working on the original footage. It's still technically 50i footage, but since the fields were recorded in pairs, we call it 25p.

Does that make sense?

It sure does ! Actually it is the first time I read about the specific matter that I uderstand how it goes. Thanks !
