DV Filmmaker

Well, I kinda clicked on one of the ads on this forum, the DV film maker thingymajig.
Supposedly, it can convert 60i, 30P to 24p no problem.
Has anyone here used it before?

I have the DVX, my friend has the XL1s. It would be nice to have our footage somewhat similar in the same shoot
THANKS

Re: DV Filmmaker

all that does is change the framerate, and display style for similar motion rendering, but its not going to make them look the same.. XL1 footage at 24p will not match the DVX in 24p ..at all. youd might as well stick the dvx in a dumbed down 60i mode with non cinegamma or matrix, and then convert them both.. then they will be matched alot closer. but even stil the DVX will be better.

Re: DV Filmmaker

It will give you the flexibility to shoot 24PA on your DVX and use the XL1S footage on the same timeline. Albeit, XL1S look and feel. It does a decent job. A friend of mine just got it and ran some DVC200 footage through it. Looked good.

My primary reason for considering it is to be able to mix my DVX100A and DVC200 with Canon 19x lens footage and shoot in 24PA. When shooting certain scenes, my DVC200 gives me a much sharper image and shallower depth of field. For those shots, this workflow may fit the bill. However, the jury is still out. Regardless, it's very inexpensive and worth a shot.
