DV Decks...The Pros don't like my tape! LOL!

I shot this short project that will air this weekend at the TV station I work for. I cut everything at home using FCP then outputted back to MiniDV tape. Well since we are a HD station and all the decks are HD but will also play MiniDV and DV, all the engineers thought sure my tape would play fine in the decks. Don't you know we spent almost 2 hours trying to get my tape to play! Actually the video would play but we had no audio then, then the video would play but it was playing in x2 mode which is like fast forward.

We then took the tape into our Avid HD suite and tried that deck and it just didnt like my tape or my tape format which was shot in 24P. Now mind you these HD decks are the Pro version and cost some serious $$$!

Finally my last resort was to go into one of our News Vans and use the "El Cheapo" $300 MiniDV deck in there and what do you know it played fine and sounded fine!!!!

So next time I might either have to bring my personal deck to work and just FW everything into their system or I am going to find some other piece of equipment that would eliminate some of the headaches experienced today. If I was shooting with the HVX or similiar HD camera, I know I would not have had to deal with those issues.

Sounds like the HD deck will only play DVCam mode not Mini DV at the slower speed at which it was recorded.
Mule

actually I think that was the problem. It kept saying something about LP invalid or something like that on the screen. When I got home I checked my deck and sure enough for some reason it had been switched from SP to LP! I immediately put it back on SP.
