DV Codec for the AVS Video Converter

This may sound as a newbie question, but here goes ...

I need a DV Codec for the AVS Video Converter. I`ve planned to use the Panasonic DV Codec 2.64. But there is so many out there. Is there a difference in quality? And if so - which one is the best codec?

I have just installed Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum on my computer and was sure that there was an DV Codec within the program.
But when I installed the AVS, it was without the codec.
The people on their website said that the fact is that DV codec is an external codec. Please make sure that you have DV codec installed on your PC.
I was sure Vegas had it ...

So - is there a difference in quality between them all?

Did you check the installed codecs on your machine in the device manager? I don't use Vegas, and unless I'm missing something, you should have the Vegas DV codec on your machine after installing Vegas . Panasonic DV is considered to be a good DV codecs, as is the Canopus DV codec. You can download and install some different codecs and see which you like the best... When it gets right down to it... they are all 3.6Mbs 5:1 compression and people can argue which one is the best...

Thanks Tommy. I have checked the device manager but I can`t find any installed codecs. Where on the list in the manager can I find them?

Sorry, brainfart when I gave you that info... That will only check avaialble audio video playback codecs for windows... You need to use a codec checker like "gspot" or "Sherlock the codec detective". They are freeware apps that will list all the codecs installed on your machine and can tell you what codec is needed to play any video files that you wish to play... Just google them for download sites.. I use gspot.
