DV Caddie Shoulder Rest

I want a little more stability when shooting handheld without spending $500+ for the DVRig Pro. Has anyone used the DV Caddie Shoulder Rest:

The problem with the DVRig (in my inexperienced opinion) is that your hands are away from the controls. That is unless you buy a zoom controller and that'll set you back a few hundred more. With the shoulder rest you should get some added support and your hands are where they usually are without the addition.

I just wanted to know if anyone has used it or what they think.

Thanks, Joe

I recieved the DV Jr a few days ago. I had the same reservations about the pro that you do, the JR answers all those problems, with great stability, and flexibility of movement and use. I have been using it on a doc the last few days which is all handheld, the rig now has a place right next to my camera, and I will not go anywhere without it.

This is an interesting rig = S-800 Super-Pro Shoulder Rest #125

I've had this for about a year or so and it's quite versatile. I've rigged it up
with a MarZpak (which has gone out of business ???) and with a handle system
for quiding the rig, it does very well as a stablizer. Lots of variations on use!
