DV Blockiness

Hi

I'm trying to resolve the issue of blockiness on my DV footage. It's shot at 25P on the DVX and it has a lot of red in it.

Obviously the 4:1:1 subsampling is the issue. I want to know what is the best solution to resolving this in either FCP or AE?

I applied the "Reduce DV blockiness" preset and that did a good job but softens the image substantially, a little too substantially! The same with the Channel Blur in FCP.

Any help would be great.

- Weird thing - I did an output to DV and then to Digibeta and projected on a Barco and the blockiness disappeared.

Get the book by Stu Maschwitz "DV Rebel's Guide." It's an amazing book, teaching everything out of AE. It includes a plugin to remove DV artifacts.
