DV article on Using the DVX to shoot "Breaking Bonaduce"

I guess the DVX was the main Camera to shoot the reality show "Breaking Bonaduce" I don't know if this has been discussed here, but the DP picked it because he wanted 24P but also wanted a small, durable camera. He passed on the XL2 because he felt it was harder to us and "more difficult to operate when shooting from the waist". He noted that despite the fact that the xl2 had more lens choices, the peripherals he wanted (mattbox, zoom control, etc) were more readily available for the DVX.

He also passed on the SDX900 because of its size.

They used extensive post and 8:8:8 color correction, which I am sure helped a lot.

The article goes into a lot of details aobut the lighting and seetings he used to achieve certain looks, so I would give it a read if you have access. If anybody knows how to find the article online and post the link that would be great.

I rarely watch TV, and I never watch reality shows, but I might look for this just to see how the results look. If its good enough for this...

dont know if its online, I just got my latest issue of DV in the mail which features aformentioned article.

havnt read it yet, but im suprised about the 8:8:8 color correction. I mean color correction is pretty standar these days, but i felt the color on that show was pretty horrible. I mean it was kinda "cool"... kinda, and it made it a little more distintive but i thought it really highlight the formats weaknesses. "Hey this is cheap video, but in 24p!"

just a thought

Did you see the photo of that crane they had the DVX attached to? And the comments about them busting the mic on the DVX? I don't know why that was even an issue, as it looked like they were using a wirless rig into XLR for audio.

Haven't finished the article yet -- but glanced over it today.

Post is another free one. I'm not sure how I signed up for that one, but it's good...even if 90% of it is over my head :)
