it seems my entire project was edited in a dv 3:2 sequence... is this the default? is this perhaps why it looks like crap when played on a dvd player (interlaced and pixelated)?
happy thanksgiving!

it was 24p edited in 29.97, but what is the difference between the 4:3 setting and the 3:2 setting in the sequence prefs?

DV is on fcp is 3:2, edit your 24p video either in a 24p timeline or 23.97 if on a DVX. ignore the 3:2 its the resolution, 720 by 480, it will look good on a TV.

4:3 is aspect ratio - the width by the height. Other option woudl be anamorphic or 16:9 if you shot that way.

2:3 is a original frame to final frame ratio. 24 fps in 30fps video. Also noted as 2:3:2:3

2:3 and 4:3 don't relate to each other at all.

If you shoot 24p you can just capture and edit fine at 29.97. You only need to go to pure 24 edit (23.98) if you're going to film or want to make a24fps DVD. In that case you need to remove the pulldown (2:3)
