Duplicating Mac vs. PC look

Hi there.

I'm shooting a parody of the Mac vs. PC commercial and I wanted to get some advice on editing it.

My plan is to shoot using a green screen, then replace the green with a white background in Premier (duplicating the look of the original commercial).

Am I on the right track? Any suggestions? I'll be using Premier Pro 1.5 and I'm assuming I can just use the Green Screen Key under "Keying Effects".

Thanks.

Hi Ian,

Couple of issues. The first is that I don't have a large enough white backdrop for 2 actors. The second is that (in my experience) there are too many problems shooting a white
background. Great if you have a big studio, touch when you
have limited space. White absorbs light, and you need a lot of
it on the actors when you have a white background.

Any thoughts./techniques for Premier?

Thanks

Peter

For the record - white does not "absorb light", It reflects light far more efficiently than a dark tone/surface/color and you can get away with using less light.

Also: you need just as big a space to get a good chroma key because the bg needs to be as far away from the subject as possible - the further the better.

There's probably a surprising number of locations you could find in Toronto that already have full white backgrounds, such as art galleries and artist coops, with other studio-like locations. You should be able to find one for free. The thing is that the best green screen key you can do will still look strange when you replace it with pure white.
