Duplicate Vs. Replicate

I wanna produce a bunch of dvd's of my feature film using Disc Makers.

Should I Duplicate or Replicate?

thanks

how many do you need? I'd say if you want less than 300, I'd duplicate DVD-Rs. You will average around $2/dvd-r. If you want more, give serious consideration to replicating, knowing that the minimum order starts at 1,000 units. You will average $1.25/dvd or less. If you sign up with someone like IndieFlix, they can give you access to their replicator at an insane rate i can't quote here. but they only do discs, not the case.

Duplication is burning multiple copies....Replication is pressing multiple copies and usually results in fewer errors or bad discs.

Thanks for in the info.

Im looking to do a 500 copy run with cases, art etc.

The key for me that the discs do not skip when played by reviewers or festivals or customers.

Ive been submitting to festivals, reviewers, and such. Some friends have mentioned that their copies skipped here and there. I need to avoid this.

My film is tight. It's finished. Yes, Im always tweaking...but nothing mind blowing will be added from this point on. So the expense to get some replicated copies seems justified and logical.

what do you think?

well duplication is burning from a tower or computer, i have a 7 dvd duplicator and it works great. BUT my surf movie was picked up by the big VAS ENTERTAINMENT and they will only distribute the replicated dvds. replicated dvds have the movie info stamped into each disc. I now have 1000 of both. i have never had a problem with the duplicated ones that i do my self the work great. but VAS is a international distributor and only sells replicated. my movie is now up at www.80waves.ca

the duplicator i have will spit out the dvd if is is not perfect. the codec choice will make the dvd look good or bad ,we tryed alot of different codecs before we where happy with the look. And wow it looks great. when i play it back on my samsung blu ray dvd player /hdmi/ to my 52in samsung 750 s with the 120gh play back wow almost hd. very happy with the product.
