Dumb question re: F-stop vs. T

Just got a CP GSMO 16mm camera w/Angenieux Zoom and other prime lens. The Zoom is marked with T values instead of f-stops.

Do I use it the same way? If my Spectra cine exposure meter reads f-stop 2.8, is that the number I use for the T?

Sorry for the dumb question.

Thanks in advance.

Kyle,

Simplest answer, T-stops are true F-stops. An F-stop is a theoretical number, based on the general design of the lens, and other factors. T-stops are the actual numbers for a particular lens. Just consider them really accurate F-stops, and yes, use your meter just like you normally would and set the lens to the T-stop that your meter reads as an F-stop.

Are you sure your f-stop ring hasn't got both T and f markings on it? They use to color the f stops numbers white and on the other side of the ring the T stops were in red.

Thanks guys--

Yes, I just checked again. It only has T-stop markings, and they are in white on this lens. But no f-stop markings anywhere. Is that unusual? It's an Angenieux 10-150mm, the original zoom that came with this 1989 camera.

Thanks again.
