dumb exporting question

Are you exporting from (say) Photoshop? or FCP?

What do you mean by "squeezed?"

Taking a guess at your intent, I'd check your pixel aspect ratio. For example, if you're working with footage from an A1, your 1920x1080 image is actually 1440x1080, with a 1.3:1 pixel aspect ratio. Make sure your settings match in Photoshop.

I assume from a HVX? This will happen because the timeline uses non square pixels - similar to what lovetrumpsfear said for the A1.

If you dont have photoshop. Open the image in preview then TOOLS>ADJUST SIZE. THen a menu will come up.

First you need to uncheck the box that says scale proportionally. Then at the first item "FIT INTO" use the the drop down to locate 1980x1080 or 1280x720. Then OK. Youre done. Save the result as a TIFF with no compression.

For best results, export the original image fom FCP as a TIFF as well with no compression.
