Has anyone gotten the duel adapter to work on their PC using Windows XP?
The adapter get recognized and the drivers load., but when we insert a P2 card we get the following error

"The Device "generic Cardbus Controller" has detected a CardBus in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured to allow the Cardbus controller to be run in CardBus mode. The operating system will currently accept only 16-bit (R2) pc-ca"

now we have called Duelsystems and they said they are aware that some system (mainly HP laptops) are experiencing those problems and that they are trying to resolve this issue...but I have tried this on 4 different laptop (non HP) and the same problem occurs...actually some of them can't even get the device to work at all. I have tried XP and Vista....different P2 cards (all are already updated with latest firmware but still no luck....Also latest Duelsystem drivers doesn;t fix it (as well as changing the switch at the bottom)

I have P2 viewer and HVX200 drivers loaded...(can't load the PCMCIA cardbus since it doesn;t have one!)

If anyone has gotten theirs to work with Win XP please tell me what you have done and what model laptop you have.

Thanks!

I have a Dell E1705 and the Duel Adpator is working just fine. You must have the current P2 Viewer and Drivers loaded, and you must load the Duel software. Then when you plug in the D-A, you should see XP recognize the adaptor. If this doesn't happen you have a system problem.

Otherwise, when you plug in a P2 card, XP will ask to search for drivers. Do this manually by navigating to the P2 directory in Program Files, and look for the "inf" files in a driver directory. Once these are installed the P2 card should mount just like any external R/W device.

thanks for the reply my friend. The adapter actually works and gets recognized. The little "D" shows up and tells me the adapter works. The problem acording to Duel systems, is some of the HP notebook are using a sliglty different revison on their express card bus and thus are not working with 32bit cards and duel adpaters. I guess i wll just have to wait until they fix that issue....

Good luck. I have read here that some HPs were having problems. I personally have become disenchanted with HP products myself. I have two that work at less than advertised, and will not buy any more. (Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.)

DuelAdapter problem on HP notebooks

DuelAdapter problem on HP notebooks

E-mail from support@duel-systemsadapter.com indicates a problem with HP/Compaq notebooks. The Windows XP SP2 system event log entry is "The device "Generic CardBus Controller" has detected a CardBus card in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured to allow the CardBus controller to be run in CardBus mode. The operating system will currently accept only 16-bit (R2) pc-cards on this controller."

Per duel-systemsadapter.com support: "This is a known firmware issue with HP/Compaq notebooks. We are in the process of getting this issue resolved as soon as we can. When a solution is available you will be able to get information on it from the http://duel-systemsadapters.com/ web site."

I have working older PCMCIA cards: Dell TrueMobile 1150, Orinoco Gold, Cisco 340, Linksys 10/100 Ethernet. But newer 32-bit cards are not recognized by the system. Even after installing latest drivers for the cards. My next call is to HP Support.

Heyho,
I experience the same problem with "The Device "generic Cardbus Controller" has detected a CardBus in its slot, but the firmware on this system is not configured to allow the Cardbus controller to be run in CardBus mode. The operating system will currently accept only 16-bit (R2) pc-ca"
when I plug-in my p2 card into my D-A adaptor.
But I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Laptop, a quite new one. Has anyone a solution for this problem? I want to shoot next week, so it is quite urgent.
thx!

Still no fix.....I had to get a new notebook (a Dell) to get to work semi properly. It still has some quirks...and so far their technical support has been useless. My favorite answer from one of their technical people on why the transfer rate was too lsow (once I got it working) was :"Try uninstalling some of your applications...The duel adapter doesn;t like it when you have too much software installed......
....rrriiiiiggghhhttt..........

Well it's about two years later and it looks like this problem is still not solved. I just bought a new Pro-Star 9194 Notebook with Windows XP Pro and Vista Ultimate. In XP I'm getting the same message when I plug in any 32-bit Cardbus card and my 16-bit cards appear to do nothing at all - although once I plug a 16-bit card in and then plug a 32-bit card in, nothing appears to happen at all. Therefore, plugging the 16-bit card is hanging the Cardbus Controller until I remove the Duel Adapter and then plug it back in again. In Vista my 16-bit cards appear to do nothing and one appears in Device manager, but cannot attain any of the available resources, which is most likely due to the fact that the card does not support Vista. My 32-bit card which is supposed to support Vista 64-bit is recognized by device manager, but the cards install program is not able to install the drivers for some unknown reason. I know my ExpressCard Slot is functional, as my new Quatech Serial Adapter is working fine in it. All that Duel Systems can tell me is that the problem in XP is a known issue and that a fix is yet to be found. He also said that updating the PC's BIOS would sometimes fix the problem. Since my Pro-Star 9194 is brand new, I was hoping for a better answer than that.

Can anybody give me any feedback on using the Duel Adapter in a Pro-Star 9194 System?

Thanks.

Dual Adapter issue

Dual Adapter issue

I also purchased a dual adapter express card to cardbus adapter I assume you are looking for the answer to the trouble you have been having with the message cardbus will run in 16 bit mode not configured to run in 32 bit mode or something like that well I believe I have solved the problem the solution is quite simple actually when your pc starts up the bios reads all your hardware right it configures your express slot as 16 bit the adapter is 32 bit so this is what you need to do. Go ahead and install the drivers though. Don't hot swap the card in other words don't insert the card when the system/machine is running shut down your PC. Insert the adapter leave in with machine off start up system load every thing now you have 32 bit support unplug card reinsert pop in your cardbus card windows will recoginize it and load drivers. Viola problem solved I hope this is helpful to whoever is looking for an answer. Thanks
