Dubbing to BetaSP

Hello all,
Just curious...What's the best hardware for Vegas (7 or 8) to allow dumping from the timeline to component input of a BetaSP deck?

BTW... I would also like to monitor & preview & scrub through EE mode on my beta deck

I have heard good things about;
Intensity Pro
Decklink
Xena

I need to buy ASAP, but i would like to hear from actual users.
thanks so much

I just got decklink and will be using it to do the same thing as you. Unfortunately i'm having some issues getting Deck Control to recognize my UVW-1800 and just emailed their tech support about an hour ago.

It comes with software (Deck Control) that allows you to output a quicktime file to your beta deck. That's what i'll be using. In Vegas I'll render out a quicktime file that includes bars&tone, a countdown, and the spot and then use decklink to output to beta. it doesn't work yet but i hope it will soon. i'll keep you posted.

thanks.
i see the intensity pro does not have rs422.
does that mean i cant use it to dump to a uvw?
i just ask because the intensity is like 1/3rd the cost of a decklink card.
thanks again
please let me know if blackmagic support gets you going.

so i've got it half working (although i still haven't heard back from tech support). i'm able to control the deck using Deck Control. And i've made quicktime files in Vegas using the Blackmagic 10-bit Codec. When I drop that file into the Deck Control window and click "Put File" it tells me "The selected clip could not be put to tape." But it doesn't tell me why. And i'm not finding any answers in the manual. And a google search for "the selected clip could not be put to tape" only yields 3 results. I think I've looked at every page on the internet that has the word Blackmagic in it. So I'm a little bit frustrated. I sent a new email to tech support so hopefully they'll be able to help me out.

i think you could still use the intensity card without rs422 but wouldn't be able to control the deck from your computer? maybe you'd just have to physically press record on the deck? i don't know, i'm pretty new to this stuff.

hope this isnt the blind leading the blind but..

is it a NTSC legal QT
(720x486 interlaced MJpegA)

thanks

did you get your blackmagic working? i'm getting a decklink at work and a intensity pro at home. just curious how your issues worked out (or not)

decklink working

just got the Declink pro hd pci-x
Had it working in one day
i'm using vegas 7 so i had to use decklink 5.6
everything works great tho

man, i'm jealous. i haven't had much time to work on mine lately. my strategy now is to render a raylight AVI, go to P2 with P2mker, and then S-video from the HVX to the beta deck. its a few extra steps but it'll work until i can figure out decklink.
