Dual Monitors

Hey

anyone know how to set up dual monitors in vegas?

I have a s video going in to a tv and want to preview on my TV, I can drag the preview box on the tv but there is not docking on the 2nd monitor.

Thanks

You don't want to do that. It will not work as a preview monitor. The preview is meant to be viewed on a computer screen, not a TV screen.

Go out through firewire to your camera. Then, run to the TV from your camera with S-Video. You can set up the firewire preview in the Preview tab in Preferences.

So there is no option what so ever to use the ordinary tv-out from the graphic card to edit in realtime fullscreen with vegas? I remember last time i tried to put it trough my cam, the picture lagged quite allot. Now when i try it again i can't even get a picture =(. For the moment I use the comopsite output from the cam into the Tv. Must have missed something.

Vegas only previews out through firewire.

What do you mean by "lag"?

Hmm. My english isn't that good, but I can only explain it like the same way when you play counterstrike on a 486 processed computer a rainy day :)

Or, maybe I ask questions because "lag" can describe a couple of different things you might see in the preview, especially if you're new to the program and don't know what those might be yet.

For example, the sound can "lag" behind the picture. This would be an audio synch offset issue and can be rectified in Preferences.

Or, it may take a moment after hitting "play" for the timeline to start. This would be a resource issue and you need to shut other programs down.

Or, the picture may stutter. This would be a frame recompress issue, which is normal and is alleviated by a faster processor.

Or maybe I just have the equivalent of a second-grade reading comprehension level . . . in which case your rebuke is entirely appropriate.

You figure out which.

:)

hehe :) .

Well, it's just the picture that doesn't want to comp... But anyway, that issue was when I used my old Nv-gs120 panasonic cam. Now i tested with the dvx and all worked fine. Now i'm just sad that I cant get the 24p to work with vegas :( But that is another story (thread)

thanx for the help David
