Hey guys, about to purchase my dual core computer pretty soon. Who has the better processors between anthlon (DID I spell that right, lol) and intel. Any suggestions.
The company name is AMD, their processors (some of them, anyway) are called Athlon.
As between AMD and Intel, it's really a horse race. Sometimes one is ahead, sometimes the other. The only thing that's guaranteed is that if you wait a year you'll get something faster. But the same will be true next year.
At this particular point in time, I would wait a few weeks to a month because (if I remember correctly) AMD is about to ship a new processor. Then head over to tomshardware to find out what the current leader is.
(Of course, in my opinion CPU performance is not the top criterion. First, I would evaluate which software I want to use. If it's FCP, you'll need to go Apple anyway, so the Intel vs. AMD question is moot.)
