DSR 11 repair

I loaned my DSR 11 to a friend and left it in the car overnight with temperatures in the low 40's. When I brought it in it would not playback a tape cleanly so I cleaned the heads and then it would play the tape.

However the computer would not recognize the DSR 11. I plugged my camera into the firewire to be sure it was not the computer or cable and it seems to be the DSR 11.

Any thoughts about the weather effecting the unit, possible fixes and as a last resort where to have it repaired.

I wonder if it might be that condensation formed if the unit was brought into a warmer and more humid room? Maybe letting it sit for a day or two might help, or putting it in a box with silica dessicant or even instant rice (uncooked, of course).
