DSLRs - Can ML's waveform feature replace a field monitor with waveform?

Hey all, I am looking at getting external monitors. For the foreseeable future (next 2 - 3 years) I will be shooting exclusively with Canon DSLRs.

As Magic Lantern is available / will become available for almost all the Canon DSLRs, is there a reason to get an external monitor with waveform / vectorscope apart from future-proofing?

I would love to get a TV logic 056WP but considering how much I could save by going with a SmallHD or similar (I'd like to put the money saved into more lighting equipment), I'm wondering if I could just stick with waveform on Magic Lantern?

Please let me know if you have any experience with this.

Thanks!
Mike

I rely heavily on the Magic Lantern exposure tools, I've found them to be very reliable and accurate.
