Hi,
i made test of dslr canon 60d and canon s120 (cheaper camera not dslr).

My father argue that the resolution is even better on the s120 so he doesnt see any difference in picture quality.

Me, i see a difference. Firstly, with the DSLR you can have a narrower focus. There is something in an image of a DSLR that is incomparable compare to the cheaper canon s120; something in the grain, the out of focus, the light. I feel the DSLR has soul and more room for creation. The canon s120 does a flat image without life.

Maybe more dynamic range ?? There are pics i do with DSLR that i feel they are not possible to make on a canon s120.

What do you guys think ?

Thanks in advance,
Have a good day.

...and vise versa

They each have their place. In most professional situations a DSLR is going to be the tool of choice for many reasons not having to do with shallow depth of field or image aethetic. DOF, or lack of, is a tool....Having less of it doesn't make your image better unless your image calls for that.
