DSLR and HDV Footage on same timeline?

I am working on a project that contains a DSLR sequence and an HDV sequence. Cameras used were a T2i and an XH-A1. Although I have the footage in separate sequences, when I mix DSLR clips and HDV clips on the same timeline, they seem to work fine. What are the best practices here?

They will "work" but the timeline is only optimized for a single type of footage. So if it's an HDV timeline the HDV source will play much more smoothly once effects are applied etc. It's not really a huge deal in any case, just edit in one timeline.
