DS1 Beholder balancing

I am having issues with this damn thing. I am using a G7 with the 14-42 OIS lens. I shot some footage with it on a job last week, and have bad rolling shutter where the camera seems to be vibration badly. I have tried and tried
to balance this thing watching videos, and I can't get this camera to say in one position like it shows to save my life. It's pointing straight ahead, and level, but when I turn on the motors, I can feel them vibrating. I am really lost.

You're too light.
That vibrating means the motors are working too hard because they are expecting a heavier load.

Go into the "lighter weight" mode by turning the DS1 on, then pressing the little silver button on the front-bottom of the camera base 3-times rapidly. You'll hear a new beep as it goes into light weight mode.

is the PID software available for Mac OS?

It MUST be, because it's the same Pro PID software package that is used throughout the gimbal world. BUT you still want to get the Beholder DS1 "version" of it because it comes with the factory authored profiles.

I got my copy directly from owldolly.com and they're pretty helpful.

I've had nothing but trouble with the DS1. Tried a huge variety of PID and power settings. I can't get rid of the jitter. It's getting to be a guessing game, and the "auto" settings in the GUI seem all over the place.

I just wish someone would make a sheet of recommended settings at various weights for the Beholder DS1. I think i might just give up and return my 2nd copy of it.

Sounds like you're doin' something wrong.
I'm not discounting the possibility that you've got a bad copy, but faulty hardware usually displays with "weird" erratic behavior....not just the regular old jitters.

First - what camera and lens combo are you using?

Second - have you done the "horizon calibration" where you put the DS1 with a WELL balanced camera on a perfectly level surface and run the auto-calibration?

Mine had a couple 'weird' issues that were cleared up with the Horizon Calibration - although I did have to run it about 4 or 5 times. But that's no big deal because it only takes like 15-seconds and I haven't had to do it since.
