What did you use for the blood spew effect when hit I have the videocopilot elements is that all you used for blood spew? If so how did you make it look like i was a stream of spew comming out?

many of the shots like the bald dude's were a combination of in-camera, practical fx with vcp's digital assets to further enhance in post. I believe I also used some digital blood squirts once or twice from assets I got from demolition films (? that the name, guys? it's another popular site that offers them for dl..)

Thanks for the reply I couldn't find the "demolition films vfx" site maybe its a different name.

thanks again.

Nice work.

You might consider adding an ease-out to your camera movement in the first shot where the aircraft flies past the building with the people on the balcony. As it is the camera appears to come to a sudden linear stop.

The camera shake in the flying shots would benefit from slightly smaller jitters, and more of them. IMO.

3DS Max? Lightwave?

3DS Max... i asked the 3D animators to give me a .5 second in the head and tail of each clip they rendered to give me breathing room for the final edit. that's the linear stop you saw. these were just strung together....

thanks!

hey guys, as you can see from my signature, i'm now selling the dvd to my film on my new website, www.DeploymentStrategyMovie.com.

In the past 4 months since the film's been completed, it's been accepted into 8 festivals, received 4 nominations for Best Science Fiction and/or Best Special Effects, and has won 2 awards- 1 for Best Sci-Fi, and another jury award for "achieving excellence despite overwhelming circumstances"...

i guess the circumstances were that I was writer, director, producer, editor, and did 98% of the 100+ visual effects myself.

Thanks so much for reading this thread! it means a lot to me!!

Congrats Mark! your learning curve must have gone through the roof!

I'd love to see some breakdowns of the 3d elements, as your probably aware I'm geared towards 3d...

i'll try to post some this week, anhar. I outsourced to a studio in Poland for the 12 3d shots, so i'll have some examples of comps they sent me and the feedback stills I sent back, etc...

cool, I'd love to see them, I'm always interested by things like that!

just a quick thought, do your DVDs have a "making of" for the VFX if not, have you considered it?
