I use adobe audition 2. I have recorded a series of questions for a interview and the sound too "deep" there is a sort of reverb going on that makes the whole thing to "cavernous" What should i do to "dry up" the reverb and bring the sound "straighter into your face" (please no re-record it! i cant)
i need it as crispy clear as possible!
Thanx

You're screwed. Adding verb is easy, taking it out is nearly impossible, which is of course one of the reasons why you want to limit reflections during acquisition.

What he said ^^^ Once it is in there, the best you can generally hope for is to take out the reverb that falls between the original words but that will still leave you with reverb all over your dialog.

good luck

yeah, your screwed like a french whore.

Unfortunately there is no "remove reverb" plug in. Whovever makes one will be VERY VERY rich. If you can't loop it, then there is really nothing you can do.

Pretty much "what they said", except for the french part. However there is something that sometimes helps. And that is Neodynium from Elemental Audio Systems.

With it you can expand down quiet sounds and if what you want is hoter than what you want to lose it can help a lot. Usually the "hollow, reverb" is a lot lower and so can get expanded pretty effectively.

But it really depends and most of the time you are SOL

What everyone said is true. I am not disagreeing.

However, in many situations, reverb is frequency dependent. Often lower frequency sounds dominate reverb.

So, if you're really unable to re-record, try playing with your EQ a bit. It won't make the sound good, but it can sometimes make it a little better.

But, re-record if you can - and listen for the reverb when recording next time!

If you record again (or for next time), be sure to monitor with a good set of stereo headphones before you start. This way you can set things up and hear what it is going to sound like before you are done.
