I really want to show this off, but it's not DVX...I don't even think it's my GL1...i think it's my OLD one chip consumer panasonic...like the PVDV-100D or whatever. Anyhow, I'd love to send this somewhere for a contest or a festival, but I don't know where...enjoy...kinda.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

Good message. I personally think Drunk Drivers should be charged with attempted murder and first degree murder when they do kill someone.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

Very nice hillcity. Drunk drivers are the scum of the Earth and kill more than 20,000 innocent people every year. Why don't we declare war on them? And have the government give THRILLIONS to MADD or SADD. Imagine the possibilities.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

I agree that DD's should be held accountable, but first degree murder involves planning and premeditation. The victim is of course, no less dead, but it's not premeditated.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

I will have to disagree with you Jim.  If you go out drinking and get drunk, then plan to drive home, that is pre-meditation.  You know you are impaired or that you will drink enough to be above the legal limit to drive.  When people do this, they incease the danger to the lives of everyone on the road at that point.  This is a National Security Issue, drunk drivers kill more innocent lives every year then terrorists do.

Yes the victim is no less dead, but what is the most punishment these people recieve?  They should at spend 10 years in jail and never be allowed to drive again.  The innocent has already received a death sentence for just living their lives.

The problem is the justice system still treats this like a traffic violation and not a criminal act.

You can always take a cab, plan ahead and drink at home.  Just my opinion.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

I understand your opinion. It is criminally irresponsible. But under the law it does not constitute planning to kill someone. Alcohol abuse is something that I am very familiar with, both personally and professionally. Negligent homocide is a prosecutable offense and should be used to hold people responsible. But getting bombed and running somebody down is not the same as the legal definition of premeditated (first degree) murder.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

While I certainly have sympathy for victims of DD, I must object to the comparison to terrorism. Not only is the pre-mediation element different (although Muir has a point in the 'planning' to drive home), but it's the whole mass murder thing that makes terror what it is.

Unfortunately, arguing based on number of victims in individual events (as opposed to a single event) has no merit. Otherwise you could argue that anyone who smokes, drinks, and overeats is a criminal comparable to terrorists. These three activities are linked to vast majority of deaths in our society (i.e., cancer, heart disease, and liver/kidney failures).

All said, drunken drivers should be treated much more harshly than they are.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

Judging by the animation of the response... I think yes, we did enjoy the vid!

Yes.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

I get so upset over it because idiots still do it. I can't compare Drunk Driving to overeating and smoking because drunk driving is potentially putting millions of innocent lives at risk all over the world. Whereas smoking and overeating are self inflicted indulgences that are personal choices that affect that individuals health, though second hand smoke can be bad.

When someone makes a choice to drink and drive, that is intent whether they intend to hurt someone or not. The results of their actions can be potentially deadly, unknowingly to millions.

The frightening thing is with all the advertisements and campaigns by MADD
and other groups, people are still doing it. I just don't understand why people take the risks after all the promotional stuff against it. That is why I think it should at least be changed to a felony.

Part of the problem in America is the over-indulgence in everything. Food, drinking, smoking, etc., that is the problem. For those of us who try to live lives of moderation we all end up paying for it with higher healthcare premiums and costs, higher taxes. Nothing is really bad for you(except like crack), as long as it is done in moderation and people control their behaviour.

I agree - you can kill yourself if you want, but keep us out of it.

It was just a BIT ambigious... but I did like it.

I must confess that I liked it better the second time around.

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

I've lost a half dozen friends to drunk driving. :(

4 were the drunk drivers so at the risk of being cold, that was their own doing.

2 were killed BY drunk drivers - That pisses me off to no end. >:( Don't want to be preachy... If you can afford to go out boozin' then cab fare should be no problem!

Yep.[says Jerry, having returned from lunch, burping and farting :-[]

I almost got hit by a car on my way to lunch. But I don't know if the driver was drunk. I couldn't see her behind the wheel. Just the wheel and two knuckles, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, I'm getting that alot from others...

They say it looks like he was in an accident and survived...
But that's not it at all...I guess it is a little eerie to imagine that.

But it's really just a play on somme commercials I saw a few years back where we'd see this cute footage of a kid, and then it would say that the kid was killed in a drunk driving accident. Well my take on it, is that it SUCKS that a kid died...but LIVING kids are just as good of a reason not to drive dunk. Since it's footage of my little brother, I guess it'd be too sick to say "This is the kid you might kill one day."
Gross. I didn't even want to type that...

Re: DRUNK DRIVING

We have a bunch of ads running here very similar to your concept.

Showing the kid and all giving you the impression they may have been killed. Then at the end it states the parent was killed by a drunk driver leaving the child without a parent.
