Dropped frames... using hard drive solution?

I know, this has probably been covered. But, I was wondering if anyone who has used the hard drive device that you plug directly into the camera has eliminated the drop frame problem when transferring footage to the computer. Does anyone know of any good devices? WEb sites to purchase them etc...

The Firestore looks very good. There has been some good feedback about that particular device. Try doing a google for 'firestore' I think the model is FS-4.

I use Adaptec with a Firewire cable. But I was having that problem also with dropped frames. I found that I had too much stuff running in the back ground when uploading. I went to the microsoft site and found a list of programs that run all the time and I diabled them; that stopped the problem.

I use the Quickcapture from nNovia. I have had good results with it but I know of others that have had problems, so I guess it has mixed reviews. The Firestore is another capture device but I have no experience with it. I CAN tell you that it is really nice not having to log and capture from tape, instead just transfering the digital files from the QC to my external HD.

I use to have that problem when I used my C: or D: drive. The drives were too slow. I switched to an external hard drive that runs 7200rpm. No problems now. Also when you run other programs, even the internet, you could experience dropped frames.
