Dropped Frames in Playback - Very Weird Situation

hey all,

i'd been working on a project all day when all of a sudden fcp started dropping frames like crazy during playback. i changed to a safe rt setting, closed all applications, and even made some more space available on the hd but still no dice.

here's the kicker though. when i logged out of my computer and re-logged in in the test mode, fcp was working just fine. the problem with working in the test mode, though, was that i couldn't save any changes.

i guess my question is what the heck is going on here and how do i fix the damn thing? it seems like there's something wrong with my regular admin log-in. if that's the case, how do i fix it?

I assume when you log on with your regular login it's slow even from the start? if not it could just have gotten funky. Run permissions fix and check any 'extras' or apps you may have installed that might cause a slowdown. (i.e. USB widget, weather checker, etc) Do both user settings have the same network settings? Any other differences between the two? Is the project corrupt or does it run fine under both?
