Dropouts on Panasonic PQ Tape

So, I did my first shoot with my brand-new DVX100A, using Panasonic PQ ("professional quality"... as opposed to what, amateur quality?) tape. I was surprised by the number of dropouts: 3-4 in a 30 minute shoot. That seems high. Should I be worried about the camera? Is Panasonic PQ tape of modest quality? Or is that normal (that seems unlikely)? Thanks in advance...

Re: Dropouts on Panasonic PQ Tape

it's not uncomon to get a few dropouts in your brand new camera. It is normally sugested to run it for an hour or two (at least) before doing anythin important with it. It is probably just a little gunk in your heads. You could run the cleaning tape, but I would just run a couple of tapes through it and let it work itself out.
