When cutting on a 23.97 timeline, the default sequence setting is for drop frame timecode. Is this the correct setting to use? My understanding is that 23.97 fps and 24 fps timelines do not use drop frame. Thanks for your help.
Parasite's correct, the 24P modes always shoot non-drop, and the timeline is actually 23.976 (which gets rounded up to 23.98 ). It's 0.1% slower than 24fps, so you subtract 0.024 from 24 to get 23.976, in the same way that the NTSC frame rate is 29.97, which is .1% slower than 30, so 30 - 0.03, which yields 29.97.
