Drop 24p normal (29.97) clip into 23.98 timeline?

I'm wondering if I take a clip that was shot with the 24p normal setting on the DVX100, if I drop it into a timeline set to 23.98 and render the result, will the pulldown effectively be removed?

No. FCP will drop some frames to tiem adjust (because it's actually 29.97 from the camera) butthey won't be the right frames.
This is covered in the FCP documentation and plenty of posts here.

Right you are. However I sure didn't learn that through FCP documentation. I was only left more confused by that library of books.

I tried that copy and paste thing and, yeah, lot's of mismatched clips and jumbled settings. I am resigned to recapture.

As for other posts in these forums, surely you understand that when someone has a very specific question regarding a common issue (frame rate) it's next to impossible to go through every post and find what one needs. I assure you, I try to find if an issue's been dealt with before I put up a post--within reason.

St. Louis eh. Me too. Downtown.

Yeesh. Cinema Tools is it? I dunno. I've already resigned myself to recapturing everything in 29.97 like it should have been in the first place. I think I've lost too much time trying to jury rig this thing to make a stab at a program I've never used.

But thanks for the suggestion

Thankyou...I see now how Cinema Tools works...what a pain it is going to be since the DoP shot half the shots in "normal" and half in advanced!

I did try the search by the way, but as suggested by alan b, I couldn't find what I was looking for without hundreds of results.
