Just got the incredible. Anyone have success extending the battery life to more than 1 day. Nice phone - Awful Battery power.

Oh, it is a piece of dog crap alright. Especially if you use the GPS. I lose battery power even with the car charger running.

I don't have any tips or insight.

And dont get me started when I use the toast feature, it only gets my bread slightly brown.
Why can't people just use a phone as a phone, its not meant to be your standard car GPS, if you want a gps that is built for that, buy a car gps. If you know how to drive, and just need a little help finding new places, by all means, use your phone.

Times they are a' changin'. People don't just use phones AS a phone because they can do so much more. I have a garmin GPS in my car and I love it. But, the Google GPS on my phone is better. It's more updated. It's quicker. And, most importantly, it's more integrated. I can look for a place on-line on my phone, click navigate and my phone will take me there. Negating the step of having to manually type in an address in my Garmin. I can speak a destination and it will automatically find the location and navigate me there. Also, the GPS technology in the phone isn't just for navigating to the airport. The technology is used for so many other applications. You can view the stars with your phone, using the GPS to tell you where planets and constellations are. You can go geocaching with your phone. You can hold your phone up when you are out and about and the GPS will illuminate the screen with local shops or eateries and give you ratings and reviews, etc. You can leave your car in a huge parking lot and set the coordinates on your phone by pressing a button. No chance of getting lost because your phone will bring you right back to your car. I have a anti-virus on my phone. But, if I ever lose my phone, I can go to that anti-virus website and click a button and using GPS it will tell me exactly where my phone is, FWIW.

To the battery issue, personally, I have the HTC EVO and the battery isn't great. But, it get's better. I cycled it down and charged it to full and the staying power has been much more robust. If the Incredible is like the EVO, and I think it is, you can probably get a replacement battery. Replacement batteries are very cheap and handy options. I bought 2 extra batteries and a wall charger for $8.99 from Ebay. They are thin and are always in my wallet. So, I've got 2 extra fully charged batteries at all times. I don't like having to swap out batteries but on those occasions that I have to, I appreciate that I can.

Thanks for the info. I've changed a few of the settings and now the phone is lasting a bit longer. Still sucky battery. But, atleast more than 8-10 hours. By default the phone is set up to check for News, Weather, Stocks, etc frequently. Turning off those things helps. I also reduced how frequently my phone checks for my email. I can always access any of these things when I want them, they just don't happen by themselves now. I also keep the bluetooth and gps off unless I specifically want to use it. Yesterday the battery lasted til midnight which was a huge improvement. We'll see how it goes. Definitely would like it to be much better. But, the phone is really nice.

The GPS on this and other Droid phones is great, and if it's all the same with you I'm gonna keep using it.
It's excellent when I'm on the road for gigs. Like Rick said, you can just speak where you want to go. (although I have been burned a few times with erroneous destination points)
