Drive Savers = Life Savers

I just wanted to take a moment and tell my personal story of data loss.

So many of us make are living selling or manipulating data. I never thought of it like that until I lost a hard drive. A hard drive loss in my business would be the same as a retail store fire or a theft at corporate headquarters. It could very well be catastrophic to my way of life.

Of all the precautions I have taken to protect my business somehow I overlooked the most valuable thing I had. The hard drive data. My drive failure was completely without warning. There were no clicks, beeps, slow system performance, or anything that would help predict that a drive failure was imminent. I came home from a week of out-of-town shoots flipped on the Avid and got the dreaded NO OS found.

I new what this was and had remembered a colleague of mine going through a similar situation. I remembered he used drivesavers.com to restore his data.

I called up drive savers and they were fantastic to work with. Please understand this is not a commercial, I have no affiliation with them, but they saved my business. So I have to recomend them.

Drive recovery services are not cheap. The cost for drive repairs was almost 3,000. It turns out that my drive was way beyond repair, but they were able to rescue the data and put it on another drive.

I am reloading the files as I type this. Everything worked out, but I learned a very expensive lesson. So please take the nescacary precautions to protect your data. If you are in a situation were need drive recovery DriveSavers was fantastic, but it is infinatly cheaper to back up data then repair data.
