That campus is gorgeous. Like a college campus. Fountains, trees, all isolated like a colony. They have a full cafeteria where all the employees eat good hot meals free three times a day.

Are you sure you are not thinking of Google????

I saw a story about Google and it fit your description what with the fountains, free hot meals, etc....

Wow that looks cool too. I wish I coulda taken pics of DW, this thing is amazing, all gold stone construction, very SoCal-colored, big beautiful stepped fountains, walled off with security at the gate, so everyone inside can feel at ease. Just seemed like such a wonderful environ. I did a few projects with a couple of my buddies there, and I was always like, "Hey you want me to pick you up at the campus?" Sounds a bit childish:grin:, but it really is quite a place.

Speaking of, Yahoo just built a huge building out by Burbank Airport, this thing is as big as the CA power building downtown. Not as nice and isolated as DW, but as corporate buildings go, it's got a very cool view of the airport and all the flights. They must have installed very good sound dampening into it. :)

I thought the DW deal went through back in August? Maybe it's just now being inked?

Yeah, there's a Chocolate Factory like that near me... weird thing is, noone ever enters or leaves, but the factory keeps running...:cheesy:

$peilberg isn't worth $50 Billion is he? I heard more like $4-5B. I thought Lucas was the richest media dude with around £5B, but that was before Esp III.

From that articule it looks like Dreamworks animation is NOT included in the deal - it is a separate company. Paramount takes the distribution rights (+8%) for DWA films for 7 years. 8% of Shrek 3, 4 &5 should help claw back some debts!

a guy i knew worked at google. he killed himself sadly. he loved the company though.

speilberg is worth about 2 bil i believe. man, anything over 500 million is so retarded i laugh thinking about it. over a billion? you are a king and have multiple private jets in different colors to match what mood you are in.

when companies "lose money", that's usually accountant talk for writing off expenses, depreciation etc.
Haha. Isn't that (a small part of) "Hollywood accounting" that you hear so much about in the news ?

Yeah, the one up here in Redwood City didn't look nearly as cool. We had framed pictures of their front gates hanging on a the walls.

Most dreams, aka Zoetrope, of Studios that will indulge the artists end in dissolution and with being sold out to a studio. As both a business person and aspiring director filmmaker I would assert this is not just a mere coincidence.

The other studios that are strictly business would delight in putting an artist
friendly studio out of business. In fact, that would be the "lot" of the history of
art. Shameless self-promotion to follow

So I've a film entered at http://www.64seconds.com, Pinhead at Zero-G, and
could really use some 5 star votes, cuz I deserve them and seriously need the
gear.

I guess that means the winner of the 64 second film contest gets a free trip to Paramount Studios! Funny ending for a sad story ...

Wow, that post was really going somewhere... then it quickly dissolved into begging for votes.

That's definitely something that is frowned upon here. Feel free to let us know that you have a short in a festival, and where we can see it. But don't ask for votes, it demeans your work.

Google looks like its got a niice campus!!

I passed by Paramount back in August...its really nice looking when you pass in the gates and look in the studio garden..but once ur out of those gates.....its like a ghetto....kinda reminds me of Newark..if any of you have ever been to Newark here in Jersey.

its like...total niceness..then..street...

google looks like its got like a huge grand entrance/driveway from the looks of that pic.
