im trying to link a file (.mov) in my webpage instead of embedding it. how would i go about doing this?

example: i want people to be click a word and the .mov file automatically pops up in another window.

If you still haven't found it:

1) Create a page with the mov file in it.

2) Put this script after the <HEAD> tag (in the page where the link would be placed):
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript">
function popUp(url) {
window.open(URL, 'window_title_here', 'toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,menubar=0,resizable=0,width=500,height=400,left =0,top =0');
}
</SCRIPT>

3) Use a standard link to call the script;
<a href="javascript:popUp('movie.html');">Movie</a>

In Dreamweaver, you should be able to link the words to the movie file the same way you would link them to a site -- down in the properties palette. Just make sure to set the destination as a new window if you don't want the movie replacing the site. If you're wanting to link the movie from a graphic, you'll have to use the Behaviors palette. And be careful there because the default action is MouseOver instead of MouseClick, which is what you want.

Hi, While we're at it, I have a question about dreamweaver as well.
I'm trying to embed a quicktime file into my webpage so all you lovely folk can see my new short film. i went to insert>plugin> then selected my quicktime file, but when i open the page in my browser nothing plays, i dont even see the quicktime logo. whats going on?
and yes, i do have the quicktime plugin installed, since i can view quicktime movies on other peoples pages.
thanks!
