Dreamlike quality for Flashbacks

Im doing a Music Video and there is a scene with some flashbacks to an old relationship. Shots of two people enjoying some typical romantic couple fun. I need to add a video effect that will help add a sort of distant and dreamlike quality

I did desaturate a little bit which I like, but I'm looking for some kind of softening effect that will make it a little dreamier. Any thoughts.

try applying a soft focus, play with the amount to get the desired look.
you could also add color correction, and bring the whites and mids up a little

Layer your clip on top of itself. Add a heavy gaussian blur to the top layer. Change the opacity of this layer to about 50 percent. Change the composite mode of the top layer to Add.
 
You can also do a white vignette around the edges to make it look dreamy. Can look quite cheesy though but play with the effect and see what it looks like...

add a colour matte over the video you want to look dreamy, set it to white and apply an 8 point garbage matte. Load the garbage matte into the viewer, invert it (so holes are solid and solid are holes) and then move the points in to the edges. Play with opacity, smoothing and feather to get the vignetting. Change the colour of the colour matte to change the colour of the vignetted edge.

Hey, thanks I played around with a combo of these ideas and I have something that I think works well.
