"Dream" sequence

Creative question for all users:

I use Vegas 9. Trying to create a "dream" sequence like the tacky ones you see on Letterman...when he starts to think and the shot gets blurry with wavy lines, then dissolves to the "dream".

Anyone created any good "dreams" using Vegas?

What effect did you use?

I know exactly what you mean, but Vegas doesn't seem to have such a transition - the closest I can see are some of the Gradient Wipes like Nebulous or Soft Noise. It may be possible to create custom wipes (indirectly via an animated mask), but I've never done it.

If you're going for cheesy and tacky, remember to include a matching sound effect - a slow harp strum is the classic one to use.

thank you...for now I think the blur effect in the crosswipes is about the best I can do...no wavy lines, but the harp really makes it! (we were thinking along the same lines....too much Letterman over the years!)
