Hello

Ive been looking at the forums for a while now and have decided to finally get a dvx.
THe problem is I can't decide what kind of setup to go with. I will be using the camera for class projects, videos for the community, weddings, and just all around having fun. So Im asking all of you post a list of items or accesories you use/would use/want/have/drool over everyday. Assuming I have the DVX, what else do I need? I really want to be able to display 16:9 with a really wide FOV. So there you go. Suggest away. And if possible, include links on where I can find that particular lens, or adaptor, or what I need to achive the highest quality wide 16:9 image. I will hopefully be buying the stuff by the end of the week. Oh, and if you have a favorite retailer you go through let me know.

-Thanks

1. Get Barry Green's DVX Book. You could learn everything in the book by hanging out on the forum for months and months and months and doing lots of forum searches -- or learn everything the 'regulars' know in about three hours if you have Barry's book.

2. search the forums for "what else do i need" ... you aren't the first to ask.

To answer your immediate question, you're probably thinking of the panasonic anamorphic lens, but there are a lot of tradeoffs involved in its' use. The book explains the tradeoffs and why and when and how you should use the lens. You might actually decide you don't want the anamorphic lens once you understand all the compromises involved (basically, you need a lot of light and you're limited to wide angles and deep depth of field -or- otherwise intolerably soft recordings)

Properly accessorizing a DVX100a easily triples the price of the camera (matte box, follow focus, fluid tripod, microphones, boom pole) or, at least mine did. Good luck and welcome to DVXUser.
