Drawers, Artists: Is there another tool besides this?

Doing a small family mural as a Christmas present,

I've never really dabbled in painting, the brushes and mixing colors, I never was good at bringing a picture to live with that. Always looked sloppy looking

Not being a paint brush man, is there something I could use to color in the sketch besides colored pencil, marker? Something with the bold solid coating that you get from paint but with a fine point like that of a marker? I was in an art store the other day and saw some speciality looking colored pens, I think, but is there some other tool out there I'm missing?

Try looking at watercolor pencils. Draw it any way you like, then use a brush and water to smooth whichever areas you like. Half way between a drawing and a painting. You can get some very nice effects with them.
Might be what you're looking for.

You could also try oil paint markers. They look a lot like magic markers, but they put out a solid line of oil paint. Sounds like exactly what you described. Limited color selection though.

Good luck,
Kevin
