Dracast S-Series Plus Bi-Color LED1500

Saw that. Already have enough lights for now but was still curious. So many of these lower budget lights have zero review info online. I think one of these “long” ones folds but not sure if this is it. Could make for awkward carrying if alone.

In my experience and with friends who have them, Dracast lights are very hit and miss. If you get a good one, they are a good value, but lots of issues have cropped with with many returning them for defects. Proceed with caution as with any no name Chinese light. You might get lucky or possibly the opposite.

Dracast's are built fairly well, have the older 1000 series daylight and bicolor. Purchased both before the Aputure LS1s came out (to give age). After acquiring the LS1s (and an LS1/2 (even better light quality though not as much light output)), I found the light quality for skin tones to be better with the newer Aputure LEDs, where the build quality of the Dracasts is higher than the Aputures (not up to Fiilex: best I've used. Note the P360 is on deep discount: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1021433-REG/fiilex_flxp360_p360_90w_led_light.html ).

It's possible the recent Dracasts are using newer+better LEDs- and with good build quality it would be worth taking for a spin at that price (for the cost of return shipping if they won't work for you).

You can find these versions of the Dracast lights direct from Chinese manufacturers at cheaper prices. In my limited experience, the Dracast lights seem to source more color accurate LED's. All of Dracast's lights are overpriced at their MSRP. Their "normal" price is the B&H Deal Zone price. That seems to be their business model. At least that is my opinion.

On deal zone now for $279. Still don't know if they are good or not. Look decent. I like my other dracast lights (500/1000) but I wish they could go brighter when needed. The 1500 looks reasonably bright when color is mixed 4400.

I have a few friends with Dracast panels and they all seem fairly well made. Much better than LP Astra's, both in construction(metal) and design(flat squares).
