Dracast Round LED $100 24 hr sale

I bought one last year on a less favorable sale ($136 without the stand), have used it a few times for eye light and agreed with above, would be helpful for product shots and other places where a round source is beneficial. At this price it's a bloody steal, especially if you already own the NP-F batteries.

I bought one not long ago at the same deal. Couldn't pass it up. Brighter than I thought it might be. Nice and soft. Convenient battery operation since I have a trainload of Sony np-f batteries ;)

B&H is open again, and it looks like the sale is until midnight Saturday 10-28.

Charles and firehawk- thanks for sharing your thoughts. Enjoy, DBP!

Mine arrived today.

The damn stand came with one of the legs broken at the bottom. Oh well, it was a free.

Please with the light, though. Build quality is nice. Light output isn't a ton, but more than I expected. It's surprisingly soft, though. Once I soften the ones I do have (F&V r300, Aputure 672s) to the same degree, I'm not sure they'd be much different.

A steal for how much I paid.

I got one of these to convert to a normal light in the house. I'm just wondering if anyone else has one where the color temp dial gets wacky at the very end. I dial from daylight to tungsten and in the last fraction of a turn it goes back to daylight... instead of simply going stop to stop, daylight to tungsten.

I have a couple of these lights. Just checked them and turning temp. control clockwise, starts at 1/2 brightness and full warmth, gets brighter and cooler in a couple of "notchy" steps, then lands on coolest setting, 1/2 brightness. Not a very precise progression but I'm ok with it for the sale price. I guess you know it turns on/off different temp LEDs to make a mix, so the only time all are on (full brightness) is in the middle, mixed position. But mine don't swing back to the other temp. at the end of the control's travel as you describe.

Thanks... and yeah, I could have returned this, or exchanged it, but my plan is to make a normal-use household practical out of it. If there was a light at Lowe's like this... somehow worked into a desk-lamp or standing lamp, I doubt it could cost any less. Just as a "brick" for building something else, I think $99 is hard to beat... even with it's flaws.

This is the second thread in the last week or two that has cost me money. I ordered two last night. If only I had just gone to sleep when I laid down in bed instead of checking-in on DVX on my iPad.

It would be cool to hang one or several of those lights facing down over a desk or workbench, with the disc horizontal. A modern update on the "warehouse" light.
