HI,

So after reading a lot in the forum and getting some advise, i have decided to raise my Audio budget and buy the DR100 that will work with the AT 897 mic (that i can borrow).

I have acouple of questions.
1. The AT 897 can work in Phantom mode or with AA bataries. Which is better?

2. I saw in some threads, that there were recommandations for buying this cable http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=WishList.jsp&A=details&Q=&sku=746644&is=REG and i have to admit that i didn't fully understand what's the use of it. Would appricate an explanation.

3. regarding recording methood, can i connect the DR100 to the GH2 and record audio, using the DR100 internal mic, and in the same time, connect external mic to the XLR input and record audion on the DR100?

Thanks, and also any tips for a newbie on extenal recording will be welcome.

Cheers,
Avi

1. Always run mics with Phantom if you have it. Battery power reduces the mic's performance.

2. The cable is for when you have a line level preamp like the Sound Devices MixPre, and you want to go into a mic level input like a DSLR. You should be using a preamp by the way...

3. What's the point of that? The stereo audio will be unusable anyway, so may as well just use the camera's mic.

(3) Well i thought that the DR100 internal mic are probably better then the GH2's, so it would be good back up/sync audio
