Dr. J puts rings, trophies up for sale

Those are just things. He has his health and he's an intelligent guy. He'll be OK.

On a side note, the ONLY Sixers game I missed watching during the '84-'85 season was the night he and Larry Bird mixed it up.

I used to have an autographed photo of him when he was with the Golden State Warriors. But a break-in relieved me of that photo.

I always thought highly of him and still do. It sucks that he has to go through that. But they are just items. He is still who he was, and that won't change for me.

Yes, the rings and trophies are "just things", but the fact he's putting them up for sale is a clear indication of his financial woes and its sad to see him diminished financially at this stage in his life.

There was an article, not sure if it was in "Times" or "Reader's Digest" that stated how half if not over half of all professional athletes lose their fortune in their lifetime. Big money without the knowledge or wisdom of how to use that money. Dr. J is only one causality with bad investments going belly-up. I remember Tony Dorsett investing in some vitamin water, don't think that took off either. It is sad.

That Lenny Dykstra story is crazy.

That Lenny Dykstra story is crazy.

Yea, great example.

Except Dykstra actually fired his investment adviser and studied finance for a year. He was doing well for a while, until he told everyone whom he owed money to f off. That's knowing better and just doing the flat-out wrong thing!
