I thought we would see this before too long.
FWIW, Improved preamps, clock, longer battery life, safety tracks, take reset and a few others.

For the price, the 680 was-is a nice product, and the improvements in the new version will be welcome. I was never disappointed in the audio quality, and if you are using a mixer in front, the preamps hardly matter. What the 680 needed IMHO, was a more robust case (even if it was just composite), a hirose power plug, and a better or larger LCD.

Good find, Rick. I especially like the extended battery life and the dual recording (like the 60d). Any idea on the price?

Probably around the same as the non B&H retail price, $600-800 I would think. The preamps are neither here nor there for me, same with the batteries, but a good improvement just the same. The take re-set is good. I had questioned Tascam about that lacking, when I first used one.

Cool. I hope the pres are better than -124 ein since the original was rated at -129 or something. I know the pres are probably NBD to you because you probably put a mixer in front but I use my recorders stand alone.
