Looking for a nice field recorder to compliment my Canon 7d setup. Will be used primarily with an NTG-2 and i'd like to add an Oktava at some point.
Everyone seems to love the H4n, but some pro's say it has noisy pre-amps.
The DR-100 seems rock solid, but can't record 4 channel. Although that is something I do not think I would use that much. I cannot find any solid writeups on it's noisiness or lack thereof.
The FR-2LE is about $200 more expensive than the Tascam and Zoom, but I am willing to pay the additional cost if it means far superior recording quality.
I am mostly concerned with external mics and phantom power. The onboard mics of the dr-100 and Zoom are bonus additions to me. But I don't consider them a serious need.
I am coming from generally using a Rode Videomic recorded into a camcorder. Mostly shoot run&gun sporting documentary type stuff, and promo pieces.
