DR-100 battery tests?

hi-
couldn't find any thread concerning this:
different battery time under different recording modes:
mp3, wav, 16bit, 24bit, etc...

i don't think they tell this in the manual, and i wondered if someone had a chance to test this.
it's just that i recently bought my dad a dr-100 and he told me that when he used it on
24/48 mode, the lithium battery lasted about an hour.. is this possible???
(using the built in mics, no phantom !)

thanks

That actually sounds about right. If I remember correctly I'd get about an hour on two AA rechargables, and about an hour on the internal battery. The cool thing about the DR-100 is you can tell it which to use as primary, so I would set it to use the AAs and primary and the internal as socondary. When the AAs go dead, the unit automatically switches over to the internal, and the display indicates this. You can then open the back, swap out AAs, and a quick stop/start with get the unit to switch back to the AAs. You can literally record all day like this.

Battery endurance on any small recorder always seems to be an issue. The backup - dual power option on the DR-100 is one of its strong features, making it unlike like any other small recorder.
