Downfall of converting NTSC & PAL

From one to the other, i don't really see any downfalls..

You could pick up a camera that's on the opposite format to you - for cheaper. Shoot it in that format, and convert it to your setting/format when done.

with HD I've always questioned myself, in the end the main differences are refresh rate and FPS, other thant that if you distribution medium is the computer format really don't mean anything......Problems may come with broadcast systems, but I'm not an engeneer so I can't tell.
