Hey Ive been searching on this board for the past 3 days trying to find out what's the best way to down convert DVCPROHD project to a standard version in final cut. I have seen at least 6 different people make suggestions . Is there anybody that has the one best way to do this. Can some one please help. RB

It will go to a Tape so the dvd authere can make it into a dvd or just the digital file then he makes the dvd from that

I'd suggest going using Compressor and go to DVCPro50 or Uncompressed SD (be sure to turn on frame controls).

don't go out to DV tape.

if you're going out digibeta, let your capture card handle the downconvert.

What i rather do which would be better is put it in a quick time movie. So should I make a new sequece thats dvcpro50 and drop my movie in that time line. Then my question would be what do I export it to. Meaning export to a quick time file what are the settings.

I would use Compressor and go ahead and make your m2v and ac3 files for DVD encoding, then you don't have any codec or compatibility issues.

you would export quicktime movie (not QT conversion) and choose current settings and "make self-contained movie"

Ok I laugh cause now we got more input . I also forgot i don't want it letter boxed either. So your saying once i get my file export it to a quick time movie in the setting theres a setting that says make self contained movie. And question when i drop the movie to the new DVCPRO 50 sequence will it make me render. I forgot to aske that

no you export the DVCProHD movie, then bring that into Compressor. you'll do the cropping, downrezzing, and format conversion in Compressor.
